who?
Paul Thomson is the main composer of Synesthesia. He works from his studio in Hertfordshire and records in London.
Paul studied composition and performance under Dr Donald Hunt OBE, Wyndham Thomas and Chris Northam at Worcester and Bristol University. He studied orchestration with Steven Scott Smalley in Los Angeles. He holds a M.A. degree in music and a B Eng (hons) degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
Early in his career he was awarded a place on the prestigious ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, which introduced him to working with large symphonic ensembles. Paul’s production work for record companies in the UK and Europe has given him the ability to combine different genres of music in interesting ways.
Paul’s skills at writing music to picture have won him awards and even mentions in the daily broadsheets - his steamy music for the Vegetarian Society’s X rated ‘Rude Food’ campaign was noted in many newspapers this year during National Vegetarian Week, and his music for Carphone Warehouse’s ‘A Phone Is For Life’ Xmas campaign won the humourless censure of the Canine Defence League!
